Yesterday, all three of our teams went to the State VEX IQ Tournament. Our elementary teams earned 3rd and 4th place and our middle school team placed 5th in the state of Oregon! What amazing accomplishments for all. Great job!
Our middle school team was honored with the Judges Award which recognizes a team that displays special attributes, exemplary effort, and perseverance at the event; a team that overcomes an obstacle or challenge and achieves a goal or special accomplishment; a team that demonstrates effective communication skills, teamwork, professionalism, and a student-centered ethos in the team interview with the judges panel.
Our middle school team—Error 404: Name not Found—displayed all of these attributes! This honor was well-deserved. These young leaders consistently exhibited conduct representative of the Silverleaf ROCKETBOTS principles: Respect, Originality, Communication, Kindness, Empathy, Trustworthiness, Boldness, Open-Mindedness Teamwork and Service throughout the entire robotics season! They supported each other and set a wonderful example for the entire Silverleaf Robotics Club. Congratulations Libby, Sawyer, Mikah and Duncan. A well-deserved honor for all of you.
Mr. Schweickert is an incredible teacher and we are so lucky to have his experience and effective leadership for this program. Many teams began working on their challenges last May and were meeting up to 9 hours per week together. Our teams began in November and met 1.5 hours per week. We can’t wait to see what we can do in the 2023-24 robotics season.
Thank you also to Mr. Delgado! Evan is a volunteer parent who was consistently present at the robotics club meetings to lead, teach, support and supervise our students. He was there bright and early for all of the tournaments ready to pitch in and lead our teams. Thank you, Evan, for your contribution, leadership and support! You have been an essential part of our robotics club leadership this season.
